• 40 beads recall Arbaeen, the fortieth day of mourning for the martyrs of Karbala.

• 72 beads recall the companions who stood with Imam Husain (a.s.) on Ashura.

Recite with the intention of salam upon Imam Husain (a.s.) and the 72 — every bead a remembrance.
